The day has finally come. Arsene Wenger is leaving Arsenal after 22 years at the helm. No matter what Wenger has done these past few years, he leaves behind a legacy that will go down in Arsenal history. The first thing you have to talk about is the Invincibles. The team that did not lose a game the whole year. This season has showed how hard that is to do. Manchester City looked like one of the best teams that has ever played in the Premier League and they could not do it. The team that Wenger put together is no joke, that Arsenal team is one of the best teams ever. 2003-2004 Arsenal had players like Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell, and that is just naming a few.
It is time to stop talking about 15 years agoja and talk about the past few seasons. This was a long time coming. Arsenal has not been winning much these past few years, excluding the FA cup wins back to back three years ago. However, this is a team that should be doing better. They have not been a real threat for the title the past few years and are falling behind. Their defense is a mess and must be addressed by the new coach. I think the main reason why this team is struggling is the players have given up on the coach. Arsene Wenger was a great coach for Arsenal, but it is good for both parties to part ways and move on.
