And then there were four. France, Belgium, England and Croatia. All four of these teams can beat each other. On one side, we have France versus Belgium, and on the other, we have England versus Croatia. So, who has the best chance to win?
France is the second best, if not the best team left in the tournament. When it comes down to it, France and Belgium are on a different level of talent than Croatia and England. France has been able to use their young and creative players and turn them into a working team that plays together. Just like I said with Belgium, if they win this semi-final game, France will most likely be hoisting the trophy when it is said and done.
Is it coming home? Most likely not. I’ll admit it. I did not expect England to get this far. I expected them to fall flat on their faces way before this point because that is what England does at major tournaments. I even went out on a limb and said they would not get out of the group stage. However, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane have been enough to get England to where they are. Also, who expected Jordan Pickford to play this well? One of my major concerns coming into this tournament was England’s goalie situation and they have proved me wrong again. I think England will make it through Croatia, but I do not think they have enough to bring it home.
Croatia has been awesome this tournament. All of their games have been great to watch and have been full with drama. I hate putting them last because I think I am putting too much trust in England, but I will not doubt England again. Croatia still has the best midfield in the tournament, but I don’t think it will be enough to get past the Three Lions.
