Antonio Conte might be in the hot seat after two straight defeats where Chelsea lost by three plus goals. While it may have seemed that Conte was the right choice after winning the Premier League in his first season, Chelsea have been in poor form. In their last five Premier League games, Chelsea has managed to only picked up one win.
Chelsea’s main weakness may have been the loss of Matic to Manchester United. Bakayoko, who Chelsea bought from AS Monaco in the summer, has not lived up to expectations. He was the main reason Chelsea lost against Watford after getting two yellow cards by the 30th minute.
Chelsea is currently sitting 4th at 50 points after match week 26, but they are not guaranteed a Champions League spot. Tottenham is at 49 points in 5th and Arsenal now looks like they can make a run at the top 4 with their new signings. If Conte wants to keep his job, Chelsea needs to find separation from Tottenham and Arsenal.
I do not think Chelsea should fire Conte YET. Conte won Chelsea the Premier League last year and they had no chance to win the Premier League this year from the start the way Manchester City has been playing. As long as Chelsea stay top 4, Conte should keep his job. However, managing a club like Chelsea means the team has to perform every week if you want to keep your job, so I could see him being fired this season.
