Juventus vs. Real Madrid:In a quarter-finals heavyweight match-up, Real Madrid will travel to Turin to face Serie A leaders Juventus. Ronaldo and company have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and sit 13 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona with just a handful of games left to play. In other words, the Champions League is the only trophy Real Madrid are still fighting for. Juventus find themselves in quite the opposite situation as they look to get revenge for last season’s 4-1 loss in the Champions League final. The Bianconeri are in a tight title race with Napoli and will play AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final later in the season. The field will be jam packed with world-class talent with the likes of Dybala, Buffon, Kroos, and Ramos. However, the difference maker in this tightly contested match will be the reigning Ballon D’or winner, Ronaldo. I predict Real Madrid will leave Italy with a 2-1 win over Juventus.
LR: Real 3- Juve 1
PB: Real 2- Juve 1
Sevilla vs Bayern Munich: Bayern Munich will travel to Spain to take on Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals match-up. The Bavarian giants have plenty of momentum following their 6-0 Der Klassiker win against Dortmund over the weekend. Bayern have all but locked up the Bundesliga title and will be eager to win the Champions League trophy as well. Sevilla are battling to hold onto their Europa League spot, sitting in sixth place in La Liga. Bayern will certainly push to get a precious away goal against a weak Sevilla defense that has given up the fifth most goals in La Liga and the most amongst remaining teams in the Champions League. I expect Bayern to roll through Sevilla with a 3-1 victory.
LR: Bayern 3- Sevilla 1
PB: Bayern 3- Sevilla 1
Barcelona vs Roma: Barcelona will be heavy favorites in this quarter-final tie and for good reason. They are still unbeaten in La Liga and comfortably beat Chelsea 4-1 on aggregate in the round of 16. Roma are a decent team but could be in for a difficult night at the Nou Camp. Roma will be hoping to keep the score respectable to have a chance in the return leg in Italy. Roma will be compact and will look to frustrate Barcelona’s attack but I see Messi and Suarez having a successful night.
LR: Barcelona 2- Roma 0
PB: Barcelona 3- Roma 1
Liverpool vs Manchester City: In the all English tie of the quarter-finals, Liverpool welcomes Manchester City to Anfield. Pep Guardiola has said Liverpool’s front 3 of Mane, Firmino, and Salah are “almost unstoppable”, but I think City have a better chance of winning than Liverpool. Man City have the overall better team, but I think the Anfield atmosphere will help Liverpool to a draw. I think it will be entertaining and with plenty of chances for both sides, with the tie on a knife edge heading to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg.
LR: Liverpool 2- City 2
PB: Liverpool 2- City 4
