After recent news surrounding LeBron James joining the Golden State Warriors let’s look at potential suitors for the best player in the world.
A return to the Cavaliers:
This one is the most interesting due the fact that there is so much drama surrounding the organization.
Pros: What may keep LeBron here is the fact that it still close to home and he may want to finish his career at home.
Cons: However, there are many negatives that are flooding this team. LeBron and owner Dan Gilbert already have a relationship that is very unhealthy so this may be a big factor. Also the team is the oldest team in the league and LeBron knows this team cannot keep up with Golden State as shown in previous matchups this season
A Rockets landing
This landing spot has a lot of question marks surrounding it due to the fact that we don’t know how LeBron would fit in this type of offense.
Pros: LeBron is good friends with Chris Paul and Paul is always making his teammates around him better. In a Mike D’Antoni offense there will be a lot of scoring especially if you plug LeBron into a lineup that already has CP3, James Harden, Trevor Ariza, Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon and Clint Capella. This team if they included James could have a great shot at taking down the Warriors.
Cons: Now there are a few negatives that can arise with this landing spot. James Harden takes a majority of the shots and is the center piece of that offense, but we do not know how the two would be able to work together. The Rockets also have a lack of a solid bench like previous championship teams LeBron was on.
The Star goes to Hollywood
This is the move everyone sees happening, but for me there also is a lot to wonder about.
Pros: The LeBron to LA talk has always been on the table and the move does make A LOT of sense. LeBron has homes in Los Angeles and travels there often. The King is very high on rookie Lonzo Ball who James has been seen attending his games in the spring. Lonzo’s favorite player is LeBron and has always looked up to him so will he give LeBron a call? Who knows. The Lakers have PLENTY of cap space as the gear up for free agency. The team has been linked to Paul George as well who the team loves and has treated his parents well too. LeBron has expressed his disappointment when the Cavs could not trade for PG. Could the two link up in LA
with a young team and take the Legendary franchise to the promised land?
Cons: Would LeBron really want to attach himself to a guy like LaVar Ball who is pretty much the opposite of The King in every way possible. LeBron has no patience for childlike acts and that is what is always surrounding LaVar who has called out the team’s coach. The Lakers are also 20-31 and have been playing at very low level all year long. At the back end of LeBron’s career does he really feel like carrying a team all year? I don’t think so
The other LA team?
This landing spot can be considered a long shot, but it looks like the Clippers are clearing space after trading Blake Griffin the other day.
Pros: Again it is in LA and LeBron enjoys the West Coast. Here LeBron has a chance to start over and take over the team and most likely do whatever it takes to win… but we do not know.
Cons: If someone wants to play for LA, the player will probably want to go to the top organization, not the one that has no history of success. The Lakers are the historic franchise that LeBron would probably rather play for.
This spot can possibly hurt LeBron Legacy but at the back end of his career does it make sense?
Pros: LeBron doesn’t have to play as many minutes as he usually does and can sit back some nights play 15-20 minutes and know at the end of the year he will have another championship ring. To the LeBron haters saying he needs more rings this could be the way.
Cons: After LeBron coming out saying if you leave a team you’re a snake, this could be something he could be referred to if this happens. Cleveland would be in a uproar because he has joined the “enemy”. This would be horrible for the NBA as well as the completion level would not even be fair.
New York State of Mind?
This landing spot would be very exciting for many New Yorkers.
Pros: Kristaps and LeBron… wow. With the addition of LeBron to one of the best players in the league with so much upside would be very exciting and give Knicks fans something to be excited about. LeBron enjoys playing at The Garden and in one of the biggest spot lights in the sports world, James would enjoy the biggest city.
Cons: Do the Knicks have the money? This could be very important but we will see. James has also had arguments with Enes Kanter, a new Knicks favorite.
Should LeBron take a year off see how the season goes without him? He could then pick the team that is looking like it has the most upside.
