Who would have guessed that The Utah Jazz are the HOTTEST team in the entire NBA? The Jazz are now the winners of 10 straight games, with wins over teams such as the Raptors, Warriors, Pelicans as well as two games against the Spurs. The Raptors are the top team in the East and the Warriors are the best team in the West… so now what's cooking in Utah?
The Jazz have not lost a game since losing to the second worst team in the NBA, The Atlanta Hawks. The team then rebounded with a 98-95 overtime win against the Detroit Pistons, which has been the base of their recent streak. The Jazz have now joined the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets as the teams with 10 game win streaks this season. During the streak the Jazz have best defensive rating (97.4) and rebound percentage (53.8).
So now who is to thank for the streak? The answer is...everyone. Rookie sensation Donovan Mitchell is the team’s highest scorer putting up what seems to be about 25 points per game. Mitchell is now giving Ben Simmons a run for his money for rookie of the year, and Mitchell definitely has a good shot at winning the award. Joe Ingles has been playing at a high level putting up 20 plus points in 3 straight games. Rudy Gobert has been playing well averaging 11.4 points per game, 2.4 blocks per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. Players like Rickey Rubio, Derrick Favors, and the newly acquired Jae Crowder have all also been contributing at high levels.
The Jazz are a new look team and if they continue to play at the level of play they are out now; they have a legitimate shot at catching the New Orleans Pelicans for the 8th seed in the West. For the second straight year the Jazz can make the playoffs, as it should be fun to see where they end up come playoff time.
