Raptors lead Wizards 2-0
The Wizards have kept these games decently close, but their defense has been atrocious. The Raptors have scored 114 and 130 points respectively and seem to be living up to their 1 seed in the East so far. I expect them to close out the Wizards in either 4 or 5 games.
Celtics lead Bucks 2-0
Here we have the other East series at 2-0, but this one could easily be 1-1. The Bucks made a miracle shot in Game 1 to send it to OT but just could not get the deal done. I still expect the Bucks to take a game or two in this series pushing it to five or six, but the Celtics are still somehow playing well enough without their top two players to get by this young Bucks team.
Sixers and Heat tied 1-1
After an absolute thrashing by the Sixers in Game 1, D Wade hopped in the time machine and scored 28 in Game 2 propelling the Heat to a W. He will have to continue to provide consistent offense, because the Heat just do not have much outside of him to provide that punch. They might steal one more game, but I do not think D Wade can duplicate that scoring outburst too many more times.
Cavs and Pacers tied 1-1
It took some LeBron heroics in Game 2 to even up the series, and even his 46/12/5 almost was not enough to hold off the Pacers. Victor Oladipo is showing he is a legit top 15-20 player in the NBA, and his aggressive drives could spell trouble for a horrendous Cavs defense. This series could easily go six or seven, but I do not see LeBron letting his team get bounced in the first round.
Rockets lead Timberwolves 2-0
After a bit of a scare in Game 1, the Rockets easily handled the T-Wolves in Game 2. Harden was amazing in Game 1 but not so much in Game 2, but CP3 and surprisingly Gerald Green picked up the slack big time. The Timberwolves could get one at home, but this series will most likely be over in an easy four or five games for the Rockets.
Warriors lead Spurs 2-0
Oh, how different this series would be if the two stars for either side were healthy. The Spurs hung in there until the fourth quarter in Game 2, but the Warriors just have too much firepower for the Kawhi-less Spurs. Coach Pop might not return as he has to deal with the unfortunate death of his wife yesterday. The Warriors will most likely get the sweep in this series.
Pelicans lead Trailblazers 2-0
This may be the most surprising series of all. Everyone expected this to be a really good series, but I am not sure how many would have predicted the Pelicans taking the first two in Portland. Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum have a lot of work to do if they want to push this series to either six or seven games. AD is showing that he belongs in the playoffs, and a sweep could be a huge statement for him.
Thunder and Jazz tied 1-1
Probably the most evenly matched first round series is turning out about how everyone thought it would. The Thunder won the first game by 8, and the Jazz won the next one by 7. I see this series continuing to go back and forth, as it has all the makings of a classic seven game series. I still think the Jazz and their stellar defense will pull off the series victory.
