As I write this blog I am full of frustration, anger, and sadness but I am not surprised at all with the outcome of the Islanders game that took place tonight. We will call it the Jackets game since the Islanders were nonexistent. The Islanders lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1. This was a must win for the playoff hopeful Isles. Instead of playing with urgency and desperation they played with lack of urgency and looked flat for most of the game. Butch Goring throughout the game was preaching that the Isles giving up 41 shots through two periods was not a big deal because the play on the ice was even. Well this was straight up false; the Islanders were caught in their own zone for most of the game. At the end of the game the shot total from the Jackets was 51. The most frustrating part is we see this every single night; the team cannot defend for the life of them. I am still trying to gather my thoughts and figure out where the direction of this team is going. But the outlook is not good. Another day as an Isles fan!
