During the combine, NFL scouts and experts have evaluated talents from all over the country and people are going NUTS for Penn State star, Saquon Barkley. Seriously, one NFL assistant coach said he would punch himself 'in the nuts many, many, many times’ to draft Saquon Barkley.
The Penn State product has proved himself as a top choice in the draft. He will automatically make an impact for any team as a 3 down back. He is able to run the ball with power and catch the ball out of the backfield. A similar NFL comparison to this rising star is newly retired RB, Matt Forte. A true bell cow back who’s versatility makes him a threat in the run and passing game.
If the Giants do not invest in a quarterback with the number two pick, they would be insane to not draft Saquon. He would immediately improve the running game and take the pressure off of an inconsistent Eli Manning.
We’ve seen running backs tremendously improve teams over the years: Leanord Fournette and the Jaguars, Todd Gurley and the Rams, and Alvin Kamara and the Saints. Whoever is lucky enough to draft Saquon will be set at the running back position for years to come.
