Is this the next legion of boom?
The Jaguars playoff run last year reminded me exactly of the Jets playoff run win Mark Sanchez’s first couple of seasons. Decent quarterback play, good run game, but most importantly an elite defense. The Jaguars demolished the Steelers in the divisional round last year when they were big underdogs and gave the Patriots a run for their money in the conference championship. A good offense is important, but defense wins championships. Jalen Ramsey and A.J Bouye have proved to be one of, if not the best cornerback duo, which complements a dominant defensive line.
Last season was not a fluke, the Jaguars are here to stay and are a legit threat in the AFC.
Is Derrick Henry ready to be a workhorse?
Over the last couple of seasons Derrick Henry has split carries with DeMarco Murray. Murray is now floating around free agency and Henry will now see the bulk of the carries. It won’t be too much pressure of the Titans back to handle because of the new acquisition of 3rd down pass catching back Dion Lewis. This is less of a running back by committee and puts more responsibility on the former Heisman winner, but he is ready to run over anyone that is in his path. I’m excited to see Henry out of the backfield this year. He had a tremendous end to last season. The man is built like a tree and is ready to run through anyone and everyone. Get off the tracks when the train’s coming!
Is Deshaun Watson ready to repeat last season?
Similar to Jimmy G, Deshaun Watson has received an insurmountable amount of hype this season. Watson was on pace for a tremendous season and was almost guaranteed ROY until he tore his ACL during practice before week 9. It’s always terrible to see such great talents get bitten by the injury bug, but if he is back healthy all season it should be an interesting race to the top of the AFC South.
Is Andrew Luck going to take a snap anytime soon?
Just like the Texans, the main concern is around their quarterback’s health. Except this has been the question for the Colts for a couple years now. When Andrew Luck comes back he’s not going to miss a beat and he will perform at the elite level that we know and love. With all the new talent in the AFC South it is going to be one of the better divisions in the league as all of these teams are on the upward trend.
