I believe that to be a successful playoff team, you have to have a good run game and a SOLID defense. These Jacksonville Jaguars can run the ball wherever they want with this offensive line and dominant running back in Leonard Fournette. They also have extremely talented playmakers all over their defense.
The number one offensive strategy is to control the clock with the run game and set up the play action pass. The Jaguars’ running game needs to perform at a high level if they want any chance of winning this game. If they are controlling the line of scrimmage and are able to run it well, it will help Blake Bortles by creating space in the passing game and setting up the play action pass. Blake Bortles is playing most of these playoff games out of the pocket as he has been running bootlegs for short passes in the flat, or using his legs to run for first downs. The Patriots will try to contain Blake Bortles to keep him from leaving the pocket, but if the Jaguars are successful with the running game, the Patriots will have no choice but to put more men in the box.
The number one defensive strategy is the Jaguars need to keep Tom Brady under constant pressure. Tom Brady and the Patriots handle pressure well by getting short passes and screens to Dion Lewis and James White in the flat, but the Jaguars can play press coverage and trust that their elite cornerbacks, Jalen Ramsey and A.J Bouye, can do their job handling players like Brandin Cooks and Gronk.
