Year after year the Los Angeles chargers success is limited due to injuries. The Chargers are coming into this year with the most hype they have had in a while for the playoffs and possibly reaching the Super Bowl. But that caught up to them when star TE, Hunter Henry, tore his acl during a drill in OTA’s on Tuesday.
What a tough break for the Chargers this early on. The Chargers started last season 0-4 but finished strong with a 9-3 record for the remainder of the season. Hunter Henry had 45 receptions for 479 yards and 4 touchdowns, and was a key piece of revitalizing the offense.
Earlier in the offseason, Chargers GM, Tom Telesco, has said they are not looking to bring back 15-year veteran, Antonio Gates. But with Henry likely out for the year, it seems that Gates’ is the best available option. Gates understands the the way Philip Rivers likes to run his offense more than anyone. Even though Hunter Henry is a tough loss for the Chargers, I still expect them to be a playoff team because of their dominant defense and Philip Rivers leading the charge on offense.
