1. Astros (16-7)
The Astros are playing great baseball right now and have won seven out of their last ten games. Houston is coming off of a sweep of the White Sox and won three of four against the Mariners. The defending champs still look like the team to beat in the AL.
2. Red Sox (17-4)
Boston would probably be the top team of these rankings if it was not for a tremendous pitching performance by Sean Manaea when he no-hit the Red Sox on Saturday night. The Red Sox also lost two of three against an underrated but still below average Oakland team. That being said, the Red Sox are still playing pretty good baseball and are currently atop the AL East.
3. Diamondbacks (15-6)
The D-backs have won seven of their last ten games and are currently red hot. Patrick Corbin is pitching incredibly well and looks to have regained his former all-star form. Arizona does not appear to be missing J.D. Martinez right now as they are playing extremely well early on in the season.
4. Phillies (14-7)
The Phillies might be the hottest team in the league right now as they have won eight of their last ten. The Phils just swept the Pirates who were very hot coming into that series and will start a three game series against the D-backs today. Due to their recent play, the Phillies are now just a half a game behind the Mets in the NL East.
5. Cardinals (13-8)
The Cardinals are tied with the Brewers for the lead in the NL Central, but the Cardinals are hotter of late as they have won eight of their last ten. St. Louis has gotten fantastic play from Jose Martinez, Tommy Pham, Yadier Molina, and Paul DeJong (who already has seven home runs). The Cardinals have the Mets coming into town for a three game series today.
6. Mets (14-6)
The Mets have cooled off lately as they have only won five of their last ten games. Due to their great start to the year, they are still in first place in the NL East, but as I previously mentioned, they only have a half game lead over the Phillies. Manager Mickey Callaway has just moved Matt Harvey to the bullpen, so time will tell if that can help out the team.
7. Brewers (14-9)
The Brew Crew is red hot right now, as they have won six straight and are tied for the lead in the NL Central with the Cardinals. Eric Thames is off to another hot start to the year as he has seven home runs at the moment. Milwaukee should be able to stay hot as they are playing the 5-15 Royals Tuesday and Wednesday.
8. Angels (14-8)
The Angels have slid a little bit over the last few days, as they had some trouble against the Red Sox in a three game series in Los Angeles. The Halos are just a game and a half behind the Astros and played their first game of a three game series against the Astros last night. That series will be very important for both teams as the Angels will look to catch up to the Astros in the AL West.
9. Yankees (11-9)
The Yankees have been playing great baseball over the last few days and have won six of their last ten. Miguel Andujar has been red hot at the plate and is becoming an impact player in Aaron Boone’s lineup. New York played their first game of a four game series against the Twins last night as they are trying to catch the Blue Jays and Red Sox in the AL East.
T-10. Blue Jays (13-8) and Indians (11-8)
The Blue Jays have played well over their last ten games, as they have won six of those games. Unfortunately for Toronto, they lost three of four games against the Yankees in New York so they have cooled off a little bit. For the Indians, they have played great baseball recently as they have won seven of their last ten. The Indians next two series are at home against the Cubs and Mariners. The Indians currently have a one and a half game lead over the Twins in what has been a weak AL Central to this point in the season.
