Ichiro Suzuki has been in the league since 2001, and during that span he has been one of the most exciting and electrifying players in the history of the game. Reports came out today that Ichiro is finalizing a deal to return to his first MLB team, the Seattle Mariners. Over 12 years with the Mariners earlier in his career, Ichiro compiled a .322 batting average, 2,533 hits and 438 stolen bases. News also came out today that Mariners outfielder Ben Gamel is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an oblique strain. This injury most likely played a large role in the Mariners signing Ichiro to a major league contract. With the injury to Gamel, I hope Ichiro will get a lot of playing time with the Mariners, as he is incredibly exciting to watch and baseball is a better game when Ichiro has an important role with a team.
